Woody Allen: Allegations see New York donation board member returned

Allen and his wife, Soon-Yi Previn, recently contributed $ 1,000 to the campaign of Julie Menin, who is running for city council on the Upper East Side of New York.

With the recent broadcast of the four-part documentary series “Allen v. Farrow” on HBO, Woody Allen’s name has been in the news a lot over the past few weeks. And with so much renewed interest in years of accusations against Allen, there are now a new round of people trying to distance themselves from the director.

As reported by the New York Post, Allen and his wife, Soon-Yi Previn, recently contributed $ 1,000 to the campaign of Julie Menin, who is running for city council on the Upper East Side in New York. Menin and her camp refused the donation and immediately returned it to the couple. “Julie does not know Mr. Not at all and the campaign did not ask for this contribution. It was returned the same day it arrived due to allegations in the past against Mr. Allen, ”said Max Kramer, Menin Rep.

Menin is the former commissioner of the mayor’s office in media and entertainment. Allen, who is reportedly not a regular political donor, called himself self-employed and in the film industry.

The news comes when Allen and Previn defended themselves against HBO’s new documentary series, which thoroughly examines the allegations of Allen’s estranged daughter, Dylan Farrow, that he molested her when she was seven years old.

Allen and Previn have been married since 1997, which is a controversial affair itself, as Previn is the adopted daughter of Mia Farrow, Allen’s longtime partner when the couple started. The couple said the following about the release of the documentary:

“These documentaries had no interest in the truth,” read Allen and Previn’s joint statement (via THR). ‘Instead, for years they secretly collaborated with the Farrows and their enablers to put together an ax with untruths. Woody and Soon-Yi were approached less than two months ago and given a few days ‘to respond’. Of course, they did not want to do that. ”

The statement goes on to say: ‘As has been known for decades, these allegations are extremely false. Several agencies investigated them at the time and found that, regardless of what Dylan Farrow may have believed, absolutely no abuse took place. It is unfortunately not surprising that the network to air it is HBO, which has a firm production agreement and a business relationship with Ronan Farrow. This bad hit piece may attract attention, but it does not change the facts. ”
