‘Wonder Woman 3’ in the works with director Patty Jenkins

Diana Prince is officially on her way back to the big screen for a third Wonder Woman movie. Warner Bros. has a rapid development in another installment in the DC Comics franchise, with Gal Gadot again the main heroine and Patty Jenkins to write and direct the upcoming entry.

The announcement comes on the heels of the release of ‘Wonder Woman 1984’, the studio’s superhero sequel that kicks off on the company’s streaming service and in select movie theaters on Christmas Day.

‘While fans around the world are still embracing Diana Prince and fueling the strong opening weekend of’ Wonder Woman 1984 ‘, we’m excited to continue her story with our real Wonder Women – Gal and Patty – who will return after ending the long-planned theater trilogy, ”said Toby Emmerich, head of Warner Bros.

Although many chose to watch “Wonder Woman 1984” at home, the film still generated surprisingly strong ticket sales – at least for pandemic times. “Wonder Woman 1984” raised $ 16.7 million from 2,100 North American theaters, the best opening weekend to date in the coronavirus era.

“‘Wonder Woman 1984’ broke records and exceeded our expectations in all of our key viewing and subscriber statistics in the first 24 hours of service, and the interest and momentum we are seeing suggests that it is likely to continue after the weekend,” says Andy Forssell, executive vice president and general manager of WarnerMedia Direct-to-Consumer. “In these very difficult times, it was nice to give families the option to enjoy this exciting film at home, where theater viewing was not an option.”

More to come …
