Women in Florida dressed as ‘grandmothers’ fail in vaccination attempt | Coronavirus Pandemic News

The women are accused of changing their birth years on their vaccination applications and were turned down.

Two officials who dressed as senior citizens in an attempt to obtain COVID-19 vaccinations were turned down and issued violations in Orlando, Florida.

Dr. Raul Pino, the state health officer in Orange County, where Orlando is located, said the women “dressed themselves as grandmothers” and disguised themselves Wednesday with hood, gloves and goggles.

Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Michelle Guido told the Orlando Sentinel that women, ages 34 and 44, had changed their birth years in their vaccination registrations to circumvent the state system, which prioritizes people 65 and older. It turned out that the women got the first shot, but it was unclear.

“Their names match their registration, but not their dates of birth,” Guido told the Sentinel.

Health department officials have asked deputies to issue violation warnings.

Guido said the warning means they can not return to the conference center for any reason, including a vaccine, COVID-19 test, rally or show. If they do return, they may be arrested.

Pino said the health department’s investigation will try to determine where they were previously vaccinated and how they managed to get an appointment. He said the department would “try to find out if there are holes, or loopholes in the process that enable people to do that.”

“This is the hottest commodity out there right now, so we have to be very careful,” Pino told reporters.

With limited stock of the vaccine available, take some extreme measures to get the shots. Last month, a Canadian couple was charged after traveling to an indigenous region and falsely pretending to be locals to receive the vaccine.

“How dare these two privileged multimillionaires lie to medical professionals, who endanger our community, to jump in line?” White River First Nation Chief Angela Demit asked in a statement shared on social media.
