A group of more than a dozen women took a look at the bodies of Dubai residents as they posed naked on a balcony in a stunt that went viral – and also landed them in hot water at local authorities .
The women have been arrested on charges of public promiscuity in the United Arab Emirates, where violations of the law on public decency – including nudity and other ‘lewd behavior’ – carry fines of up to six months, as well as hefty fines.
Videos and images of the women, set up in their birthday suits in Dubai’s luxury suburb of Dubai, made headlines on social media over the weekend – which shocked the federation of seven Arab sheikh dams.
Very easy behaviors, such as kissing in public or drinking alcohol without a license, have landed people behind bars.
State Gazette The National reported that the women-in-the-buff show was a ‘publicity stunt’, without elaborating.
Police said the women arrested for the “indecent” video were referred to the public prosecution.
“Such unacceptable conduct does not reflect the values and ethics of Emirate society,” police said in a statement.
