Woman sentenced to 5 years for lethal butt injection

A Dallas woman has been sentenced to five years in prison for causing the death of a nightclub dancer by performing an illegal cosmetic batting injection on her in Missouri.

Nitica Deonte Lee, 49, was sentenced on Thursday for involuntary manslaughter in the death of Daysha Phillips in 2015, reports St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Prosecutors say Lee traveled from her home in Dallas to a hotel in Edmundson, a suburb near St. Louis. Louis’s main airport, where she injected the liquid silicone. Phillips, who was 22, died four days later after the silicone entered her bloodstream and trapped her lungs.

Three others accompanied Phillips. One deteriorated, and two others who received injections apparently had no bad consequences, police said at the time.

Lee, who had previously served time in prison for robbery, burglary and theft, was charged a few months after Phillips’ death. But she was a fugitive for five years before being arrested by Dallas police in July. Prosecutors said she spent some time in Mexico from that time.
