A woman has been arrested following a suspected assault on her husband in 7-Eleven in Colony Plaza in The Villages.

Debbie Matatt, 50, of Wildwood, was in the driver’s seat of a white Kia van at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday when the altercation with her husband was caught on video surveillance, according to an arrest report from the sheriff in Sumter County.

The man told deputies that he feared his wife would lock him out of the van. He reaches out and tries to put the vehicle in the park, but his wife resists the attempt and keeps the van running. The man tried to leave the van, and as he was getting out, she grabbed his shirt. Matatt, who weighs 300 pounds, then punched her husband twice.

The Charleston, Illinois resident, was arrested on a battery charge and booked into the Sumter County Detention Center, where she was initially detained without a warrant.
