Woman, 59, dies at Covid-19 in Onondaga County as cases close to 32,000 last year

Syracuse, NY – According to data from Onondaga County, a 59-year-old woman died from the coronavirus, which is the 675th death here since the pandemic began.

The Covid-19 virus was first confirmed here on March 16, almost a year ago. Since then, the country has confirmed 31,977 cases.

This means that at least 1 in every 15 inhabitants of the country has had the virus.

At the same time, nearly a third of every adult in Onondaga County had a vaccine shot, said provincial head Ryan McMahon.

So far, 111,191 provincial residents have had one shot, according to McMahon. Of these, 60,676 were fully vaccinated.

That means 30.8% of the country’s adult population had one dose, he said. “Team Onondaga is killing it,” he said.

McMahon said today another 55 cases have been confirmed. In the past week, only 0.8% of test results came positive with the virus, he said.

Fifty-four people are being admitted to hospital, and that is higher than three on Saturday. Eight people are in intensive care.
