Washington Wizards point guard Russell Westbrook has once again sketched his name in the NBA’s record books. Westbrook helped lead Washington to a 119-107 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday night by recording 13 points, 11 rebounds and 17 assists – making him the first player in NBA history to make several triple-doubles against already scored 30 teams.
As he has done for most of his career, Westbrook filled the state against his former team on Monday night. This has happened quite frequently over the last few years, as Westbrook has essentially become the NBA’s master of the triple doubles, so while the immediate reaction to him doing it again will not be so emphatic, this achievement is still very impressive. .
While they still have a lot of work to do, the Wizards are actually in the playoffs in the Eastern Conference while they are tied with the Chicago Bulls for the No. 10 series for last place in the league’s playoffs after season 18- 21 May. As Jack Maloney of CBS Sports explained earlier this month, these games will be extremely important in determining which teams will ultimately compete for the NBA title this summer.
Westbrook’s tenure in Washington had a rocky start, but things turned around a lot in the end, as he and Bradley Beal apparently found their progress as a duo. It helped the Wizards win five consecutive games and seven out of their last eight games.
If it were to keep pace, the Wizards would be an interesting team to note the record, as their remaining schedule is pretty favorable.
