Within Martha Stewart’s wellness routine

Martha Stewart has achieved many things in her career: she has written and written nearly 100 lifestyle books, she has had several successful TV shows and she became the first female homemade billionaire when her company, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, became famous in 1999. This is to name a few.

And at age 79, Stewart has no plans to slow down, even in the midst of the pandemic.

“I thank heaven for the happiness I had, that I was able to keep working and make the people around me work and be productive,” Stewart told CNBC Make It.

On Tuesday, Stewart, a well-known dog lover (she has two French bulldogs, Creme Brulee and Bete Noire, and two chow chows, Emperor Han and Empress Qin), announced the launch of her range of CBD products for pets with Canopy Animal Health. (CBD is an abbreviation for cannabidiol, which is one of the different cannabinoids found in cannabis and hemp plants. However, it contains no THC, the psychoactive component in marijuana.) Stewart collaborated with cannabis grower Canopy Growth in 2019 to develop hemp derivatives. CBD products (for humans).

Stewart says she became curious about downtown after working with rapper Snoop Dogg (aka Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr.), who is a well-known cannabis user.

“I’m not a user of [marijuana], “Says Stewart. But she was interested in researching derivative plants that are said to have health benefits, especially those that help with sleep. (Some studies have shown that downtown can be effective in relieving symptoms of anxiety, chronic pain and help with insomnia. Other benefits are anecdotal.)

Here, Stewart talks to CNBC Make It about her health and wellness routine, where she rides, how she handles stress, and getting Covid vaccinated.

CNBC makes it: in what ways can you relieve stress? Do you meditate?

Stewart: Do you think a hyperman like me can meditate? No, I’m not good at it, but I like yoga. And it’s not relaxation; I do Iyengar yoga, which contains a bit of relaxation. [Iyengar is a form of yoga that focuses on alignment and can involve holding poses for longer periods of time.]

What do you agree with more when it comes to your health and wellness routine?

I drink green juice every morning. I have a vegetable greenhouse where I grow my spinach, my celery and my parsley. Even arugula goes into the green juice and other types of strong lettuce. And then I buy organic cucumbers. Pomegranate juice also comes in there. But it’s my green juice and it’s an essential party in my daily diet because it really helps against aging. I do not like the word “anti-aging” – I say successful aging. And it also helps a lot with hair.

I [also] horse riding. I was lucky to have my horses during this whole period [pandemic]. Outdoor activity is very good. When I sit inside, I think it’s not a good thing.

How do you use SSK?

I’m sleepless and the CBD Martha Stewart oil drops are so helpful. A dropper full of orange [flavored oil] or a dropper full of lemon …. I also like my CBD gummies.

Where do you get your motivation from?

Definitely my curiosity. As with downtown, my curiosity, which was initially ignited by Snoop Dogg. I mean I did three seasons of our show, “Martha and Snoop Dog Potluck Dinner Party”, and learned a lot about cannabis. I’m not a cannabis user, but I’m not only interested in cannabis, but also hemp and derivatives.

I’m very interested in supplements … which will make you live longer, which will keep your brain clear and which will actually keep you going. These are the kind of things I’m looking for, not the secret to eternal youth – I’m not taking injections. But I try very hard to keep myself in good shape for as long as possible.

What advice do you have for people who want to find out for themselves?

Go for it. That’s what this’s about. Try. Give up trying, you give up. It is always better to try, to try and to try.

I am constantly trying new things. My new line of [CBD] skin care is a new thing for me, but I’m so excited about it. This is something I have been dreaming about for a long, long time. It will appear a bit later this year.

I like to develop things and build things. I’m building a new house. But these are things that keep one young, interested and relevant.

How do you feel after receiving the Covid-19 vaccine?

The vaccination was great. I look forward to me [second] shot next Monday.

But I’m sure I’m not going to drop my hats. We are very careful. There is no way you can lower your guard; you can still be a carrier and you can still get it.

But I feel a little safer for my own health and I am also going to be very careful about the health of everyone.
