On Tuesday, Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Project Red warned against installing mods or personal storage files due to a vulnerability that could be used to “execute code on computers.” However, the studio quickly turned over a solution, and you could now safely install mods again thanks to the 1.12 hotfix that was released Friday morning.
Hotfix 1.12 is now available on PC!
This update addresses the vulnerability, which can be exploited as part of external code execution (including saving files):

CD Projekt Red has many corrections and updates for Cyberpunk 2077 since the release of December 10 to clear up problems with the infamous buggy game. And even the game’s 1.1 patch, which had to solve problems, has one major problem of its own – it introduced a game-breaking bug that CD Project Red has since fixed.
The studio plans to release a 1.2 patch at some point, promising to be a bigger, more important update. CD Projekt Red is also working on free DLC and a free update to optimize Cyberpunk 2077 for next generation consoles.
