DETROIT – We’ve been telling you all week to be ready for this, and today is the last day to do some assignments if you do not like bitterly cold weather.
Here is an overview of what is coming our way:
Most daylight hours should be dry. Snow may approach southern Lenawee and Monroe County in the late afternoon, but the day should be dry again.
Most of the snow falls between 19:00 and 01:00, and it now appears that we will switch less to rain or a mix – the best chance of seeing it is south of Detroit and east of US-23. As such, most of the moisture available to produce this storm will fall as snow, and I now expect a general snowfall of about two to four inches across southeastern Michigan, and it will fall tonight with a fairly solid cut. .
Accordingly, the National Weather Service issued an opinion for the winter weather from 4pm Thursday to 4pm Friday.

The snow should end in the middle of the night, and then we are dry until Friday morning. Some snow effects from the lake effect will spread across the state on Friday afternoon, and I think the best chance of seeing it will be north of 8 Mile.
Saturday looks dry, and then there is a chance of some snow on Saturday night, which only ends on Sunday morning. I do not expect much accumulation from it.
It will be a bit windy in the late afternoon, but the real wind will only kick in until the North Pole Front approaches later on Thursday evening. Winds can blow between 30 and 40 km / h from the south in front of the front, and if the front crosses the area, the wind will move to the southwest with gusts of about 40 km / h. This wind will continue until Friday.
Today the temperature will rise this afternoon to the low to mid 30’s (0 to 1 degree Celsius), and tonight will actually rise a little more in the mid 30’s (2 degrees Celsius). Once the North Pole front has penetrated, the temperature will start to plummet and we will be in the low to mid 20s (-5 degrees Celsius) on Friday morning.

The temperature during the day of Friday will continue to drop, and we will be in the upper teens (-8 degrees Celsius) by late afternoon. The cold temps intensify this weekend, with a peak in the mid to upper teens (-9 to -8 degrees Celsius) and overnight lower to the single digits (-15 to -13 degrees Celsius).
The above wind and the Arctic air make it feel colder outside than the thermometer reads. By Friday afternoon, the cold fever will be around zero (-18 degrees Celsius).
Saturday’s wind chill will be zero to 5 above zero (-18 to -15 degrees Celsius).
Sunday’s wind chill will be between zero and 5 below zero (-18 to -21 degrees Celsius).
The snow that falls on Thursday night will be a wet snow, and (especially if you rain on top of that) the snow will freeze in a solid jerk that is very difficult to remove. If you have the ability, I suggest you go out there so late at night to shovel that snow before the temperatures drop.

An added benefit is that it will then (albeit windy) be much warmer than if you wait until Friday or the weekend. Keep an eye on the radar of the free Local4Casters weather program … you’ll easily see where the back edge of the snow is. In fact, when you click the “FutureCast” button, you get the most up-to-date high-resolution computer model projection of the end-time snow – our app will really help you plan when to get there and hoe.
