Winter Park has declared an active COVID-19 outbreak because 109 employees are positive

Outbreaks appear to be exacerbated at Colorado ski resorts. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) outbreak list this week outlined 109 positive cases at Winter Park Resort in Grand County.

The outbreak, which was first declared on January 23, accounts for 6.4% of the 1,700 employees in the ski resort.

Grand County Health only reported the outbreak to the state this week.

In a joint statement between Grand County Health and Winter Park Resort earlier this week, they said the cases were not diverted to interaction with visitors, but that they were related to ‘social gatherings outside the workplace and housing.

The latest report also explains outbreaks in Breckenridge and Keystone. The former has 12 active outbreaks of a total of 26 cases, and Keystone has four with ten positive cases.
