Winners and losers of Seattle Seahawks 26 San Francisco 49ers 23

In the end, it did not matter whether the Seattle Seahawks won or lost to the San Francisco 49ers. The results elsewhere have them rooted for the # 3 seed, but they have rallied to avoid a fair embarrassment against a B team, given the injuries San Francisco has dealt.

There are not many of this game, but I want the overview, but here are the last winners and losers of the 2020 season.

Wenners

Tyler Lockett

Lockett was apparently silent for more than a month before putting on another brilliant performance at State Farm Stadium. The last time he was there, he had 15/200/3 against Arizona, this time he scored 12/90/2 against San Francisco and the score. He’s the first Seahawks player to ever reach 100 catches in a season, and he reminds everyone that he’s still a damn good receiver.

4th Quarter Russell Wilson

Wilson returned for the third time in the fourth quarter / won a game of the season, and he was linked on the two touchdowns that turned it from a 16-6 deficit into a 19-16 lead. He was more willing to scramble, he made clever plays on the fly, and both TDs for Lockett were a thing of beauty.

Alex Collins

With the ears of Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny cramped, Alex Collins acted and put the game on ice with an eight-yard touchdown that showed speed and decisiveness that was very similar to his previous TD against the Los Angeles Rams. I almost wonder if Collins should actually be permanently bumped into the active roster, but it’s unlikely since Penny was well, ditto Carson and Carlos Hyde would be back from illness.

Chris Carson

It was an underrated good play form Carson. He only had 13 touches, but five of them were the first time and he had two runs that won nine yards on the first and ten, which through analysis and common sense will be that you are successful plays. It was difficult for the Seahawks running game to get in the rhythm during an entire pace, but Carson was able to get going in the 4th quarter when the offense desperately needed key players to perform well.

David Moore

Congratulations on the extra cash, my husband. You deserve it!

Benson Mayowa

Quiet a very good year for Mayowa (apart from the terrible leverage he took in the first Cardinals game). Two bags in the afternoon, including the game-end strip bag. He finishes the year with six pockets, just behind Jarran Reed and Jamal Adams for most in the team.

KJ Wright

Please do not let KJ leave. He still plays at a high level and blows up George Kittle and Kyle Juszczyk in the open field. The man must be in the Seahawks Ring of Honor when his career ends.

Rasheem Green

Rasheem has never really gotten going due to injuries, but he was big today. A third bag that led to a 49ers field goal and then the fumble restored to Mayowa’s strip bag. I still hope Green can at least be a capable lathe on the Seahawks’ defensive line.

Nick Bellore

Bellore had a hell of a special teams on a point-return, literally taking a 49ers blocker and catching up with him in River Cracraft. He also repaired the kick on the spot to make sure San Francisco could not get a great comeback. Pro Bowler on ST for a reason!

Jason Myers

Myers missed a PAT, but that was a good thing in the long run because it forced the Seahawks to go down 16-12 instead of passing out on a 16-13 draw. He’s only the 3rd kicker in NFL history (who joined Gary Anderson and Mike Vanderjagt) a perfect season while attempting at least 23 field goals.

Losers

1st-3rd quarter Russell Wilson

It was really bad. I concentrate entirely on Wilson because I suspect the All-22 will reveal that many of the offensive failures were poor performance by Russ and not bad playcalls by Schottenheimer. His accuracy off the field has been muted over the past few weeks and that makes him a worse fullback. Russ’s turnover is lower, but at what cost does his general game cost? I’m a little worried about how often the Seahawks passing game has splashed against a stronger scheme of defense than when Let Russ Cook was at its peak.

Shaquill Griffin

Griffin is so frustrating because on his best day he is the best cornerback in the team. But he gave up Richie James Jr. on a 3rd and 14th a big catch and was very happy that CJ Beathard did not punish his cover which left George Kittle wide open for a touch.

DK Metcalf

Fairly inefficient day for DK. Only three catches for 21 yards on nine targets and while he did break Steve Largent’s Seahawks single-season record for receiving yards, he had another drop (slightly behind him, but catchable) and was actually not a significant factor at all. .

Final notes

  • Jordyn Brooks led the team in tackles and according to my score most of his tackles led to a minimal to no profit. He was beaten in the final seconds for a touchdown, but that was just a small thing when Seattle almost had the game in hand. I do not think it is exaggerated to indicate that he is already an upgrade of Mychal Kendricks.
  • Really hope Jarran Reed and Jamal Adams can go next week, otherwise it’s a big blow to the defense. There is optimism about Adams, but we still do not know what the deal with Reed is, which has been revived since the acquisition of Carlos Dunlap.
  • The offensive line still has serious problems picking up stunts, and this leads to immediate pressure or plays. I really hope Mike Iupati and Brandon Shell can return next week.
  • Not exactly happy with the early defense of the second half in relation to the staff the 49ers had on the field. I think there’s still reason to be concerned about the Seahawks against a much more capable offense just on this one alone, but they still stopped critical points when they were noticed more often than not.
  • Bring on the Rams! John Wolford, Jared Goff, Jim Everett, Jamie Martin, I do not give much. This is going to be a bad point of a game, but I would love for the Seahawks to win again and send their rivals home forever.
