Winn-Dixie begins distribution of COVID-19 vaccines next week

ORLANDO, Fla. The Winn-Dixie supermarket will distribute the coronavirus vaccine free of charge throughout Florida starting next week.

The parent company Southeast Grocers said it had received 8,100 vaccines Moderna, distributing it under the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program, in partnership with the CDC, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Florida Department of Health.

The vaccines will be distributed free of charge from Thursday, February 11 at select supermarkets Winn-Dixie, Fresco y Mas and Harveys in the state.


The vaccines are initially given to health care workers, residents and staff of long-term care facilities and adults 65 years and older, according to Florida guidelines.

A list of Winn-Dixie locations is not yet available, but a website has been set up where customers can get more information and eventually schedule an appointment online as soon as they are available.
