Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 21313 expands with tons of changes

Microsoft ends this week by releasing a new Windows 10 Insider Preview build for testers in the Dev Channel. The latest version, version 21313, includes a number of new features, including expanding news and interests to more languages ​​and markets.

The updated news and interest widgets were previously only available in the US, Canada, UK, Australia and India. The new preview extension expands it to more locations around the world. News and interests will automatically detect your language and location and provide a localized experience. However, the experience is not yet available in China.

Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 21313 also replaces Microsoft Edge Legacy with the new Microsoft Edge. Microsoft has said this will be the case for Windows 10 Insider Preview builds that are moving forward.

Changes and improvements

  • Based on feedback and to accommodate the fact that Dev Channel builds do not match a specific Windows 10 version, we have updated the version name of the version to now be Dev.
  • We have received feedback that it is not clear how you should turn off news and interests if you prefer. To address this, we changed the “Hidden” option in the context menu on the taskbar to now say “Disable” to make this feature clearer.
  • Based on feedback, we made some small adjustments to the new app launch animation to improve the speed and make it a little smoother.
  • The enhancement of the candidate bar on the touch keyboard announced last week where it displays a maximum of 5 candidates and centers them in position above the keyboard has started rolling out.
  • The new voice-typing experience announced in September began with the launch of all insiders in the Dev Channel. Press the Windows key plus H if you want to try it in one of the supported languages.
  • The change to attach items in our updated clipboard history design (within the emoji voter) is now extended to all Insiders in the Dev Channel.
  • We’ve done a few more updates for our emoji search teams based on feedback, including that programming will now return the three tech emojis and RIP will now return the emoji from the tombstone. We have also updated the search in Russian so that emoji with the letter ё in their keywords can now also be found using the letter e. Please keep the feedback!
  • We are currently removing the ability to copy and paste a screenshot directly into a folder in File Explorer due to a problem that was discovered due to feedback from Windows Insiders. We hope to re-enable this capability in a future update after addressing this issue.
