With your phone, you can now open multiple Android apps on your Windows 10 computer, but there’s a catch. Unfortunately, the experience of multiple apps is exclusive to Samsung Galaxy devices. Those among you with other Android phones will therefore need to work out this upgrade.
Being able to use Android apps on a Windows computer was a great thing in itself, but being able to use multiple apps at once takes multitasking to the next level. If there are apps that you use regularly, you save the hassle of stopping at different points throughout the day and interfering with your phone.
Unfortunately, this feature is not widely available. Anyone who does not shake a Samsung Galaxy phone cannot use Android apps on their computer. And those with something older (or less powerful) than the Galaxy Note 10, will be limited to one app at a time.
The sharing of your app for your phone was only announced in September, and according to Microsoft’s comments, the possibility of bringing the feature to other Android phones is being investigated. Unfortunately, at the time, it had no information to share, and from the sounds of things that did not change.
With the diversity of Android hardware out there, it’s obvious that getting something like this to work on every device is no small task. As annoying as it may be for those with different phones, Samsung Galaxy devices are one of the most popular Android devices. So it’s not surprising that Microsoft started sharing apps there.
If you want to try the “multiple application experience” on your computer, your first task is to make sure your Samsung phone is are eligible. You should then check that your computer has the Windows 2020 update of May 2020 (or later), Android 11.0, version 1.20102.132 of the Your phone app, version 1.20102.133.0 of the Link to Windows app, and version 2.1.05.2 or better of the Link to Windows Service app from the Galaxy Store.
It’s a lot, but it’s a brand new feature you can enjoy, so you need the latest and greatest software to make it happen. Chances are that most of these things are updated automatically anyway.
