Will Taylor Hall sign extension with Bruins? Don Sweeney weighs in

Taylor Hall signed a $ 8 million one-year deal with the Buffalo Sabers in the off-season before being traded to the Boston Bruins.

Hall’s time in Buffalo has not gone so well, but so far only two goals have been scored this season.

The wing has not yet been able to reach his full potential, but that could change now that he is in a struggling team and not one to sit last in the NHL position.

The Bruins did not have to give up an arm and a leg to acquire the first round draft in 2010, and were able to hold their first round for this year’s draft.

Obviously, questions arose as to whether Hall would test the free agency after this season or whether he would sign with the Bruins again – something in which he expressed interest during his press conference with the media on Monday.

General Manager Don Sweeney considered the possibility.

“It usually comes with success and fit. Taylor will say in it, and our group will say in it about how these two things come together,” he told reporters. ‘It’s a short time before you have to find the chemistry and find out where you fit in. And he’s comfortable. We had players in the past, maybe they were expiring deals, but we felt it would fit well going forward, and we want to believe that with Taylor.

‘I think the proof will be in the results. And once again, not to add an expectation to him, I think he accepts the challenge and that’s why he chose – he had a say in this. He had a chance and chatted some evaluations with Kevyn Adams, who did a great job of communicating about where things are and where we thought we could get a deal, and we’re lucky Taylor got us chosen. And there is a give and take with it. We’ll see how it unfolds. Get him comfortable and hopefully he has success. As much success as possible. ”

Sweeney also revealed that Hall will likely play on the left side of David Krejci, meaning Jake DeBrusk will move to the right wing.

Hall debuted Tuesday with the Bruins against his former Sabers team at TD Garden.
