Wide receiver Xavier Worthy leaves Michigan Wolverines

The wide receiver Xavier Worthy, the leading number 61 in the 2021 class, announced on Thursday that he had asked for the release of the national intention he signed with Michigan in December.

A 165-yard receiver from Central East High School in Fresno, California, was a 6-foot-1 and best position in Michigan’s class behind quarterback JJ McCarthy.

In his statement, Worthy said he was looking forward to starting his college football career in Michigan, “but due to circumstances beyond my control, things did not go as planned …”

Worthy was considered one of the fastest recruits in the 2021 class, and Michigan thwarted a late attempt by Alabama to sign him. He was supposed to enroll in early January, but that never happened, and Worthy now says he does not want to go into more detail about what happened to Michigan after choosing a new school.

Michigan also entered wide receiver Giles Jackson at the transfer portal two weeks ago. Jackson is also from California and announced Sunday that he will take over for Washington.
