Why Matt Patricia’s Return to Patriots should not deter Matthew Stafford from New England

Detroit Lions fullback Matthew Stafford available out of season should get the attention of multiple teams, possibly including the New England Patriots.

After all, the Patriots need an upgrade at quarterback after a 2020 season during which Cam Newton and Jarrett Stidham both struggled to achieve consistent success at the position.

If the Patriots do have an interest in Stafford, they will not have to go far to get a reconnaissance report on the veteran full-back.

The Patriots have reportedly brought Matt Patricia back to Foxboro after spending the last two plus seasons as head coach of the Lions. The Lions did not once make the playoffs under Patricia, and he was sacked in November after a 4-7 start to the 2020 campaign.

Should the return of Patricia Stafford deter the Patriots? Justin Rogers of Detroit News discussed the topic and others recently with our insider Tom E. Curran. Watch the video above for Rogers’ recording.
