Why Joe DiMaggio did not make a ‘Seinfeld’ cameo

The awesome Yankee Joe DiMaggio almost appears in an episode of ‘Seinfeld’.

Joltin ‘Joe was prominent in a season 3 episode in which Kramer sees him in a coffee shop and tries to disturb DiMaggio’s concentration while dipping his donuts (DiMaggio himself does not appear in the episode).

According to Dr. Rock Positano, a longtime friend of the slugger and author of “Dinner with DiMaggio”, DiMaggio’s family was very fond of the episode and encouraged him to make a como about the series.

“Joe’s granddaughters were big fans of ‘Seinfeld’ and wanted him to do the cameo,” Positano told Page Six.

Positano also revealed that DiMaggio was in fact a ‘darker’ whose favorite was ‘ordinary pound cake, roasted on a grid only on one side.’

Eventually, the infamous, private sports hero invited the show, despite his family’s pleas.

“He felt it would open him up to criticism and invade his privacy when he walked into a coffee shop,” Positano explained.

But ‘Seinfeld’ made a mistake.

“Joe was a dunker dipping with his right hand, not left, as evidenced by the ‘Seinfeld’ scene,” Positano added. “He will always order half a cup of coffee without hot water, and he will mix the two carefully like a pharmacist.”
