Why is Michael Strahan at home? ‘Good Morning America’ hosts test positive for COVID

Pro Football Hall of Famer and ‘Good Morning America’ presenter Michael Strahan tested positive for COVID-19 and is self-guaranteed.

“We know you noticed that Michael was not with us this week. He wanted us to let him know that he tested positive for COVID. He is at home in quarantine,” anchor Robin Roberts opened Thursday’s ‘GMA’ .

Anchor George Stephanopoulos said Strahan is grateful to everyone who reached out their hand.

“He also feels good and is looking forward to being here again soon,” Stephanopoulos said.

Stephanopoulos said everyone working at GMA, on and off camera, was released by Disney to be at the studio after following up on contact according to the CDC guidelines.

Roberts said she texted Strahan and said his dog Enzo kept him nice and warm.

Strahan, who also provides an analysis of the “Fox NFL Sunday” preview program, appeared at a distance during last Sunday’s NFC Championship game. However, Strahan also performed remotely for much of the season for the network’s Thursday night games not to be in conflict with his GMA schedule.
The 49-year-old Strahan has been absent from the ABC morning show all week and it remains uncertain when he will be on again.

He has been part of ‘Good Morning America’ since 2016 and has been a regular contributor to Fox’s NFL coverage since retiring after the New York Giants won the third of their four Super Bowl titles during the 2007 season.
