Who will be the sixth quarter?

Trevor Lawrence will be the first choice in the draft. Zach Wilson will be second. Another quarter will be third.

Then it becomes interesting. Will the NFL draft for the first time ever start four for four in the quarterback position? Even if the Falcons do not exchange a quarter or the pick for someone who wants to, it will not be long before the fourth quarter is selected.

And then it won’t be long before the fifth quarterback goes, quite possibly in the top 10 picks.

To Lawrence and Wilson and then, in whatever order they go, Justin Fields, Mac Jones and Trey Lance, who’s next?

The next track consists of Davis Mills of Stanford, Kellen Mond of Texas A&M, Jamie Newman of Wake Forest and Kyle Trask of Florida. In different teams the players will be divided in different order. Eventually, someone will take a quarter after the first five, and that team will take the one at the top of the list.

Whether this happens in round one or second or second round remains to be seen. As more teams take quarterbacks earlier, there is a good chance that others will also be sooner than expected.

There’s also a good chance one of the guys from that second level will be pretty good. Just like guys from previous concepts who went later than the first round were ultimately pretty good.
