As one of his first acts as president, Joe Biden rejoined the World Health Organization. But the recent remark of the WHO official about the origin of the new coronavirus questions the decision.
Michael Ryan, the executive director of the WHO health emergency program, told a news conference last week that it was “too early” to say that the coronavirus had originated in China.
‘I think we need to say it very clearly; all hypotheses are on the table and it is definitely too early to conclude exactly where this virus started inside or outside China, ‘he said.
Ryan responded to an NBC reporter who inquired about China’s denial that the virus originated in Wuhan or elsewhere in the country.
‘Let’s step back, let’s follow the evidence, let’s follow science. Our team is on the ground, they have a great experience working with our Chinese colleagues. We work through the data. The data will lead us to the next phase, after which we will have to look at the origin of this virus, ”Ryan said.
In November, however, Ryan said it would be “very speculative for us to say that the disease did not originate in China.”

Former President Trump has withdrawn to formally withdraw the US from the World Health Organization, accusing the world body of being in China’s pocket.
“The world is now suffering from the Chinese government’s failure,” Trump said, adding that China had put pressure on the WHO to “mislead the world” about COVID-19. “China has total control over the World Health Organization,” he added, a statement denied by the WHO.
