Who leads Ohio State soccer in mid-spring? Buckeye Bits

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ryan Day’s soccer coach, Ryan Day, insists, halfway through the spring camp, that there is no separation in his three-way quarterback fight.

So read what you’ll be doing in the rotation reporters who saw last Friday’s and Monday’s practices. CJ Stroud, Jack Miller and Kyle McCord set up in that order for stretch and calisthenics, and they rode in the same order through their handover and past drills.

Day said rotation has fluctuated and will continue to do so in the future. He said Monday he wishes he had 18 months to prepare the trio for the opening day. Yet he only had six when the spring practice began, and if it ends, he will be up to five.

“I think they learned decent work every day, so I think it was positive,” Day said. ‘I think their lack of representatives is difficult. They need so many representatives of everything. And the good news is that they are very eager to learn. They take good notes. They all get better in their own way. ”

It looks like Stroud ended up with the backup last season, after filling in for Justin Fields twice in emergency service – including in the play-off match against Clemson. So even though all three started with an equal opportunity of a third to win the post, they may not have opened the feather for the first time.

Tuesday’s episode of Buckeye Talk focused on whether we believe more in our ears or our eyes when it comes to the quarterback competition and other spring storylines. Stroud looked comfortable and ready in our two glances at practice. Yet all three of the backs made good and bad throws. Although each has an even third share of the lead, the opportunity seems to compete and prove the outcome on the field.

What else did we see on Monday?

Craig Young, a linebacker player of established identity, set up in safety in various exercises. The Bullet talk is still gaining momentum this spring. “It’s exciting for us because he can cover, he can play in the box, he can be physical, he can flash,” Day said. Day lists three other players listed as safety – Ronnie Hickman, Kourt Williams and run-up Ryan Batsch – in the same role as Young. … One of the reasons Day is enthusiastic about defensive attacks is an impressive off-season for Taron Vincent. Due to injuries so far in his career, Vincent was the best player in that group per day. He attributed Vincent’s dedication to Mickey Marottioff-season program. “Once that happened, his games started now, and I’m excited to see where it’s falling,” Day said. … The Buckeyes played a lot of nickel in the periods that reporters opened up. According to Day, OSU will still use two to four lineout players based on matches. …

Asked about his biggest concern halfway through the spring, Day said it was the lack of playing time for the youngest Buckeyes. “These are the things we need to do now to continue to put it in game situations and get more representatives.” … Speaking of which, first-year recipients Emeka Egbuka, Marvin Harrison Jr. and Jayden Ballard was compiled for one exercise. “The more we can put them in living situations, the better.” … Day said the state of Ohio will hold another training session on Saturday. OSU was not in booklets Monday. Day said they put the completed exercises at a distance and try to “really physically and really clean it up.”
