Who is Indianapolis FedEx shooter Brandon Hole?

Brandon Scott Hole, a 19-year-old Indiana man, is suspected of setting himself on fire at a FedEx plant in Indianapolis on Thursday night, killing at least eight people and injuring more.

Law enforcers identified Hole as the shooter during the news conference Friday afternoon.

Indianapolis deputy police chief Craig McCartt said the gunman arrived at the processing center near Indianapolis airport and randomly opened fire on the parking lot before entering, where he continued to spray bullets.

“There was no confrontation with anyone who was there,” he said. “There was no disturbance, there was no argument. It looked like he started shooting at random.”

The shooter is believed to have turned the gun on himself before police arrived, McCartt said.

According to the package company, he was also a former FedEx employee at the same facility. Most employees there were forbidden to bring their cell phones inside, which led to confusion and anxiety as friends and family tried to get in touch with loved ones after the news of a mass shooting.

McCartt said at a Friday afternoon news conference that they were responding to Hole’s home last year after reports of a man uttering suicide ideas, which he repeated to response officers. He allegedly had just purchased a gun and the police behavior unit arrested him and then took him to a hospital for treatment for mental health.

They also confiscated the gun.

Investigators said Friday they searched a home in the town connected to Hole and seized evidence, including computers and other electronics.

Authorities have not yet revealed a possible motive in the attack.

Police said early Friday night that the coroner had not yet identified all the victims.
