White Sox option Reynaldo Lopez

The White Sox is a right-hand man Reynaldo Lopez to their alternative site Monday, by team announcement. The move means Lopez will not open the season in the big leagues.

Lopez, who traded in a trap in Chicago in 2017, had an up-and-down run with the White Sox. Now 27 years old, Lopez as a member of the club hit a 4.76 ERA / 4.98 SIERA over 446 2/3 overs. The previous two seasons were particularly rough for Lopez, who combined for a 5.52 ERA / 4.96 SIERA over 210 1/3 frames. He also had a worst career of 12.4 percent of batsmen last year.

Lopez went up in the spring hoping to claim a place for the season opener, but he allowed 11 runs in as many innings, conceded 16 hits and scored just six hits against four runs in the show before the White Sox degrades him. From now on, the White Sox look set to enter 2021 with a rotation of Lucas Giolito (which they acquired in the same trade as Lopez), Dallas Keuchel, Lance Lynn, Dylan Cease and Carlos Rodon.
