At the beginning of Grey’s Anatomy Season 17, episode 12, titled “Sign O ‘the Times”, Jackson saw protesters stand together after the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Later, Jackson asked Catherine why they had no scars. He asked why his mother told him to fix things from the inside out when nothing seemed to be getting any better. In response, Catherine told Jackson he sounds like his father, Robert Avery (Eric Roberts). Then Jackson replied, “Oh, would that be the worst thing in the world?”

When Jackson left Seattle Grey’s Anatomy Season 17, episode 12, began to theorize many fans where the character is headed. Following the new episode, some viewers questioned whether the plastic surgeon was driving to Minneapolis. However, this seems unlikely because the ride is about 24 hours long.
Meanwhile, many Grey’s Anatomy fans have speculated that Jackson will return with a different character. A few individuals hoped the character was on his way to see his ex-wife, April Kepner (Sarah Drew).
“I bet if he drives that far, he’s finally seeing April in a protest,” a fan wrote on YouTube.
Of course, some Grey’s Anatomy fans remembered that April still lives in Seattle. So it will not take 11 hours to get to her. But Jackson’s father, Robert, lives in Bozeman, Montana, which is about 11 hours from Seattle.
