“When it comes to gun control, gun violence is tearing this country apart.”

Levi Strauss & Co. president and CEO Chip Bergh told CNN’s Newsroom on Friday that his company was campaigning for so-called gun control because “gun violence is tearing this country apart.”

Bergh said: ‘I have been a CEO for about ten years now. I can tell you that the role changed dramatically during that ten year period. You know, the business tables talk about stakeholder management and making sure we have value for all stakeholders. I have a large employee base worldwide. I have communities where we work and serve the communities. So we have a wide range of stakeholders. I really believe, especially with Levi’s, that I have a platform. We are committed to making change. This company has been around for 180 years. A big part of the reason I believe we have been around for 180 years is that we were not afraid to take a stand on issues that are really, really important and were not afraid to stick our necks out about this difficult issues. ”

He continued, ” As far as gun control is concerned, gun violence is tearing this country apart. Almost every day you hear of a different incident. It is therefore important for us as a country. I serve in the U.S. Army. We are not trying to undo the second amendment. We are only asking for legislation that will make our world a safer place. ”
