What would a Carson Wentz deal with the Denver Broncos look like?

Another day ending on ‘y’, another Carson Wentz trade rumor. This time … it’s the MYSTERY TEAM ?! I’ve been to the Denver Broncos as a destination for some time, it makes a lot of sense.

John Elway has not been able to attract a name to the quarterfinals since Peyton Manning’s retirement. Now, with a new GM in the path of George Paton, the most important thing is that the team finds a QB with the “name” and the “production” (2020 aside) to help Denver catch up with Kansas City in the division compete. At the very least, they need to be sure that they can keep the Chargers and budding star Justin Herbert away from them.

Paton is no stranger to dealing with the Eagles, as he was part of the Vikings front office during the Sam Bradford trade. Bradford threw 20 TDs and 5 INTs for the Vikings in 2016.

With the familiarity and willingness of John Elway to make a move for a new QB, there should be a relatively easy path to a trade. Well, that comes down to compensation.

What can the Broncos offer the Eagles?

The Broncos currently hold the 9th pick in the draft. This is a serious capital in itself. If you part with the choice, the Eagles will give the choice of 6 and 9 (nice).

In addition to the choice, they have some attractive names on their roster that are on rookie contracts:

Courtland Sutton – Sutton was widely regarded as a ‘breakout’ star for 2020, when a torn ACL happened. After a 1,100-year second-year season, Sutton was limited to 31 snaps in his first game of 2020. Without Sutton, Denver relies on Jerry Jeudy, KJ Hamler, Noah Fant, Tim Patrick and DaeSean Hamilton for production. Jeudy (856) and Patrick (742) took the lead for the Broncos, while tight end Noah Fant was next (673). The production suggests the Broncos may survive a departure from Courtland Sutton. Sutton is in the final year of his deal and has a $ 2.9 million cap.

According to reports, the rehabilitation is going well and he recently started working.

DaeSean Hamilton – If the Broncos want to see how well Sutton recovers from rehabilitation before deciding whether to move on, they could step down from one of his replacements. Hamilton went to school in Penn State and began his fourth year in the league. In 2020, he had 293 meters, which is four meters less than his total in 2019. The production was not there yet, but maybe the potential of the house can be relaxed.

Brad Kelly of the Draft Network calls Hamilton his “favorite receiver of the 2018 class”. He has the skills needed for the lock and is big enough (6’1 ″) to abuse the smaller DBs he would see in the slot. The Eagles have not had a “big lock” receiver for some time.

Hamilton has another year on his deal and carries a $ 2.35 million cap.

Royce Freeman – It feels like there is always going to be the Eagles according to Freeman. Phillip Lindsay is a free agent, so if he leaves, I can not see the Broncos separating from Freeman. But if they bring Lindsay back to keep their two-headed monster intact with Melvin Gordon, Freeman is spent. He turns 25 next week, does not have much tread on his tires and has a career of 4.0 YPC. His 6’0 ″ 238 lb frame is the big body the Eagles have not had since Blount.

Freeman has another year left and he has a $ 1.2 million cut.

Defensively, it’s hard to see the Broncos separating from their young talent. Certification body Michael Ojemudia begins its second year and shows the starting potential. The team has just released AJ Bouye, so the need for CB depth is great.

What would the transaction look like?

If Elway wants to seriously compete with the Chiefs for AFC supremacy, he will offer number 9 and be done with it.

If the Eagles insist on a player in return, number 9 is off the table.

I see two options:

1: Eagles send Carson Wentz and third round to Denver for 9th overall pick

2: Eagles send Carson Wentz, 5th round pick, conditional 2022 4th round pick * to Denver for Courtland Sutton, 40th overall pick, conditional 2022 second round pick **

* Conditions: the fourth round can become 3rd if Sutton has 1,000 meters

** Conditions: The second round could be 1st if Broncos AFC West wins
