What to know as Mass. Monday expands who is eligible for vaccine access

The next move in the Bay State three-phase vaccination starts Monday and qualifies people 55 years or older to use their vaccination. People with at least one qualifying health condition giving them an increased risk for the coronavirus will also be eligible.

The step forward for Massachusetts is the fifth and final group in the second phase of the state launch, and just two weeks later, on April 19, all residents 16 years or older will have access to the vaccine.

Just over 20% of the state’s population, or more than 1.4 million Massa residents, are fully vaccinated Sunday night.

Residents can take advantage of the recently launched Commonwealth pre-registration system to receive a notification as soon as they are eligible for their first dose, they set up their appointment at a mass vaccination site.

Civil servants too more notable health conditions added to the list eligible for early vaccination, including cystic fibrosis, dementia, type 1 diabetes, HIV infection, hypertension, liver disease, thalassemia, and drug use disorder.
