Earlier Friday night, some parts of Utah saw a snowstorm – a short-lived but extremely intense period of snow. It usually lasts an hour or less and can create dangerous conditions very quickly. This can pose a danger to drivers, as rapidly falling temperatures cause icy roads, and the combination of snowfall and wind creates white-out conditions.

The Snow Squall Warning – a new category of national weather service – has since expired. Experts warn never to drive when someone is in their place.
