What senators in Florida, Georgia, said about their party lines on $ 1.9T relief bill

The US and Georgia senators, like all their fellow senators, voted for the $ 1.9 billion COVID-19 relief bill approved by a 50-49 margin on Saturday.

The measure follows five previous interests totaling $ 4 billion that Congress has instituted since last spring and comes amid signs of a possible turnaround.

Here is what Georgia and Florida senators said on Saturday about their party votes:

Scott released the following statement after Senate Democrats voted to pass the $ 1.9 billion spending package, of which, according to Scott, less than 10% actually helps fight COVID.

“Washington is completely dysfunctional. I have been saying all along that I want targeted relief for families and businesses suffering from the pandemic. That’s why Republicans just spent the entire night working with Senate Democrats to get something done that will help Florida and Americans across our country who are still struggling because of COVID-19. But that’s not what the Democrats wanted. It was never to help the American people. Instead, they use billions of US taxpayer dollars, under the guise of COVID relief, to fund their liberal priorities and repay their blue state governor friends. They should be really ashamed of this political theater.

“Our nation owes $ 28 billion. With the passage of this bill, the Senate Democrats increased the debt to $ 30 billion, knowing that they and President Biden no plan to address it or its devastating consequences for American families. At this rate and in the direction that the Democrats are heading, there is no way our country will be able to pay off this unsustainable debt without significant change. It’s time to get serious about what it means for our nation to move forward. I will never stop fighting to secure accountability to American taxpayers and get Washington’s insane spending under control. ”
