According to downdetector.com, a website and application monitoring service, it started Friday night.
On Saturday morning, it appears that the issue has been resolved.
“We are investigating reports that some people are currently required to sign in again to gain access to their Facebook accounts,” the company said in a statement. “We believe it was due to a configuration change and we are working to get things back to normal as soon as possible.”
The mass login was quickly followed up with memes from users, as well as some conspiracy theories.
When users returned to the social giant, Sen. Bernie Sanders did not last long because people wondered what exactly happened. Sanders memes continued to trend over the weekend and apparently only became popular, in part due to the cancellation.
