The Covid-19 enlightenment bill passed by the Senate on Saturday, a $ 1.9 billion package modeled on President Biden’s plan, contains provisions that benefit a range of industry and advocacy groups. The plan of mr. Biden also had great support from the public.
Some groups praising the package said more help would be needed. Others expressed concern about the size of the bill, saying it should be more closely geared to the greatest needs. Republicans in Congress, who overwhelmingly opposed the plan, were among those who expressed concern that such a large package could overheat the economy.
