WellMed reopens COVID-19 vaccination hotline Wednesday to fill 30K first-dose appointments

SAN ANTONIO The WellMed COVID-19 vaccination hotline will be reopened this week, according to health officials, to fill 30,000 first-dose appointments.

The hotline is being used by residents to plan COVID-19 vaccine appointments at Elvira Cisneros Senior Community Activity Center and the Alicia Trevino Lopez Senior One-Stop Center.

The hotline will reopen on Wednesday 24 February at 08:00.

The first dose of appointments will be given on the following dates:

  • Thursday – Saturday (February 25-27)

  • Next week Monday-Friday (1-5 March)

The telephone number for the hotline is 833-968-1745, and the operators will take calls from 08:00 to 20:00, starting on 24 February and every day until all bookings have been booked.

Those wishing to receive their COVID-19 vaccine at these two sites should schedule their appointment by phone. According to health officials, no boarding is accepted.

Residents who have difficulty reaching the operators are urged to keep in touch and stay persistent, as the hotline is likely to have a high call volume.

If the phone lines get overwhelmed, WellMed says you’ll hear one of two messages:

  • On a cell phone: “The line you are trying to reach is out of order.”

  • On a landline: ‘All circles are busy. Try your call later. ‘

If you are cut off after the recorded greeting, the officials say that it also means that all operators are on calls. If the call does not go through at all, it could be a problem with your service provider, according to WellMed.

Currently, health professionals and anyone over 65 or 16 years and older with chronic health conditions are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine at this time.
