We’ll have to wait until Part 2 for Final Fantasy VII Remake to get PS5 feature support ‘from scratch’.

This is now ‘partial’ support

These are still the first days for PS5 development.

Studios are still figuring things out, and as such, ‘PSL in full use’, as it became known, will not happen for every game yet. Square Enix recently spoke with Famitsu so much that it will apply to Final Fantasy VII Remake.

When the remake hits PS5 within a few months, it will only offer ‘partial’ PS5 support. Tetsuya Nomura, co-director of Part One, says: “As far as customization rigs are concerned, this is partially supported. As for the use of all the features of PlayStation 5, please wait for the next game where we can start over.”

Nomura continues to set expectations and explains that the photo mode in the PS5 version is simpler in nature and “different from the Kingdom Hearts III Re MindPhoto mode, which is more extensive. In other words, you can not change positions or expressions of party members. However, he states that you can use the mode “immediately” without any esoteric unlocking requirements.

It’s all give and take, right? PS5 features are neat and all, but I do not fully expect it from every game, much less a port. However, it could color your perception of it if you were to expect Square Enix to do everything.
