Weapon fired during a fight at Acadiana Mall, no injuries reported

Police in Lafayette are responding to the Acadiana Mall after reports of gunfire.

According to LPD spokesperson Cpl. Bridgette Dugas, officers responded to reports of a fight in the food court at the Acadiana Mall at Ambassador Caffery.

A weapon was fired during the incident and one shot was fired, police said. No injuries have been reported so far.

Police in Lafayette stressed that it was an isolated incident, and they are investigating the individuals involved.

The mall was closed for the rest of the evening.

Witnesses told KATC that they heard gunshots, and then saw people running. People were held back in stores by mall employees.
