Former Customs and Border Protection government Mark Morgan said on Saturday the Biden administration, which recaptures the “catch and release” policy, said it was “facilitating illegal immigration”.
“Back in 2019, one of the driving forces for the unprecedented crisis was the fact that we had these important gaps. One of them is that if you cross the border, you will be released in the United States to never be heard again. Morgan told Cavuto Live.
Morgan said “facts support” that the capture and release hole exists, claiming it is not a “right or left” issue.
“Under the Trump administration, it was largely cut off because of the Migrant Protection Protocol, the Remain in Mexico program.”
OVERVIEW REPUBLICANS WARN DHS OF WORKING BORDERS HEALTH CRISIS, INTENDED ‘RECOMMENDED’ COMMAND POLICIES
Morgan continues: ‘Now that the program has been revoked, but those who have already signed up for the program – these are the people who are now actively allowed in the United States, and that everything they do comes through a port of access and now they are allowed. ‘
Morgan said illegal immigration was not only allowed to enter, but that the Biden government had removed ICE’s authority to legally arrest them when they crossed the border illegally.
Republicans in the House Oversight Committee are alerting the Biden government to a looming health crisis on the southern border – and warning that President Biden’s ‘reckless’ policies and rhetoric are fueling it.
“The policy of the Biden administration, which restricts immigration enforcement and the weakening of border security, together with its proposal to grant amnesty to illegal immigrants, indicates to the world that our immigration laws can be violated with little or no effect,” he said. James Comer, a member of the rankings, and 18 members of the oversight committee wrote in a letter to the Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas.
Since taking office, Biden has halted the construction of the wall on the southern border, terminated the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPPs) detained by migrants in Mexico and attempted a 100-day break on the deportations – although it was blocked in response to a lawsuit. He also signed an order repealing the then President Trump’s order terminating the so-called ‘capture and release’ policy.
Legislators note that an order in November prevented Title 42 evictions – allowing illegal immigrants caught at the border from being returned quickly for public health reasons – from being applied to unaccompanied children, and the Biden government then cut out an exception for UACs. .
Republicans also point to the bill introduced this week by Biden and the Congressional Democrats, which would give millions of illegal immigrants a path to citizenship and restore asylum restrictions.

‘Look, there’s been talk of alternatives to detention, but what’s happening now is not even being used and we know it’s a failure anyway. “Whether they wear a single bracelet, they just come down and they do not show up,” Morgan said.
Morgan further said: ‘There is really no monitoring … and due to the new enforcement restrictions, ICE will be banned. [illegal immigrants] do not show up for a trial, [ICE is] be forbidden to go after them and keep them and try to remove them. I mean, we’re seeing a new era where our country is making illegal immigration into this country possible. ‘
