We have no idea who the ‘big’ AEW signing will be

AEW promised a big star signing tomorrow night (Sunday 7 March 2021) with the promotion at Revolution live on Pay-per-view and we all wonder who it could be. My boss Sean wants to think it’s Christian, and he might be right. When we talked about it in the Cageside offices – which is actually just our Slack channel – it became clear that none of us really know what’s going to happen in hell.

I enjoyed the discussion we had, so I thought I would cut it and post it here for the rest of you. I’m not even going to edit it, and rather present it like the free-flowing conversation it was.

kfd2010: Good things on that Christian post, Sean

Am I excited that it might be him

That means it’s your fault if I’m let down tomorrow

s1 rude: yes, I’m worried I worked myself

kfd2010: I will honestly say the chances are it’s not him

kainaknight: I did not realize that Raj Giri had corrected the Christian rumor. I would say that Christian makes a more likely choice than most

kfd2010: I do not think he will throw away the chance to work with Edge again after they both thought their career was over almost a decade ago

Geno: when I heard everything they said, they put the emphasis on the words “big” and “big” that I assumed it was a setup for a real big man

kfd2010: Lars

Geno: it would fit

kainaknight: it all depends on the money

Geno: to know that people would think a big star as of format, but it means a big star as in physical

kainaknight: if the money’s big and big, Christian should definitely do it, Edge be damned

s1 rude: the “actually he’s not under contract” and the fact that WWE did not use him makes me think it could be him

kfd2010: Yes, it could be that he was as low as Show

Yes, it’s weird that he did not show up, although they would probably wait on Fastlane if a story (like a game with Big E) were to end.

s1 rude: I also think, despite what he says, he has a slide on his shoulder about the fact that Vince does not see him as a Hall of Famer (or is worthy of a WWE title in the past)

who made the leap to TNA would also now make a leap to AEW

kfd2010: I can see it

s1 rude: I do not see what ‘big’ guy it could be

kainaknight: The Great Khali

kfd2010: Brock is the only one who would fit big and it’s absolutely not him

Geno: Kane

s1 rude: it’s not going to be Khali because he’s linked to their India pressure

Geno: lol

kfd2010: I had a friend named Kane, but since he has a full-time job protecting our freedoms from masks, I do not see what he does for them.

He gets a sweet ‘one-off’ deal with WWE and can say, ‘I donate it to charity’

s1 rude: it could be Brock, but then you do not need the size as an excuse to use the word big

kfd2010: We will be soooo disappointed tomorrow

kainaknight: Maybe Christian is the huge big star, and Kurt Angle is just a guy

s1 rude: he has a mercenary, if Khan would pay him, I could see him doing this to teach Vince not to negotiate with him

I think the man with the leather match will be a man from Zack Ryder

kfd2010: Yes, it makes sense. Anyone currently FA?

I think all the released names have already been signed with Impact

s1 rude: I honestly do not know who the ‘big star’ is, except that I discussed myself with Jay Reso

kfd2010: I mean with the talent share, I think it could just be Ryder

kainaknight: Jericho got attention this week because he claims WWE does not respect legends enough. It could easily be an idea that’s there, and given Sting’s star treatment through commentary, and things like the Tully Blanchard spotlight, maybe it’s a story that makes AEW more appealing to some of these people like Christian, Angle, etc. . And big money guaranteed, of course.

I would guess that Angle would love to get in there and do something better than the Corbin game for his farewell

s1 rude: RVD and Davey Boy Smith Jr. are possibilities too, I think

kfd2010: I do think that Angle is a great possibility

Smith would be a good choice for learning

Because he was clear, he did not like his last run in WWE

s1 rude: yes, Angle brings the Corbin story to the fore too much for him not to be bitter about it

kfd2010: A one-time quarrel with someone like Omega where he loses

Like I said, we do not really know what’s going on.

We’ll all find out tomorrow night together!
