We finally know what the Monster Hunter Rise and Mario 3D World amiibo are doing

Costumes for the former, power-ups for the latter

It’s not everyday that we get two amiibo stories!

As we get to both, Monster Hunter Rise is undoubtedly the lead here, as Capcom has just explained what the trio amiibo will do in their new Monster Hunter video exposition.

As a reminder, it will be sent along with Magnamalo (monster), Palamute (dog) and Palico (cat) amiibo, all of which offer a different feature. Unlock the former Magnamalo-flavored armor for your hunter, the Palamute amiibo in turn gives Palamute a new cosmetic style, and the latter (you guessed it) adapts with a Palico cosmetic. You can read it all in the gallery below.

Note that there is another easy miss on the site: “you can also play a daily lottery to win various useful items.” Usually it’s a canned amiibo function that’s as old as Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It is possible that any amiibo will act as a sort of lottery chance.

Oh, and we also have more of an idea of what the Super Mario 3D World: Bowser’s Fury functionality entails thanks to a new website landing page. Simply put, the amiibo section below (which involves the Cat Mario and Cat Peach figures at the moment) says, “Use the beautiful new Cat Mario and Cat Peach amiibo figures to unlock power shots.”

“Unlock power consumption.” I’m sure some of you non-collectors will be relieved when they hear that this is not essential. That said, the Cat Duo has been readily available since pre-ordered, while the Monster Hunter figures are still linked to GameStop (and have since been offered for sale online, but so is GameStop, so I get the hesitation).
