Rodney McGruder’s decision to move to the Warriors bench following last night’s loss at Chase Center and swapping with Juan Toscano-Anderson has drawn significant criticism from both Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.
Wayne Ellington, waiting for the Detroit Pistons, for whom McGruder apparently stood up by crossing over to the Warriors’ bench, had some strong words for Thompson and Green on Sunday morning.
“First of all, I think it’s very unprofessional and certainly not polite for someone to attack Rodney’s professional career as it was attacked,” Ellington told reporters on Sunday (Detroit News / Rod Beard).
‘To be honest, the man there, Juan, is the one who started the whole thing. Rod is a man of respect, like me, and I felt he was offended by everything the man said to me in the first half. .
“For Draymond to sit up there and talk all that kind of crazy stuff behind a microphone, I think it’s the fake hard thing, to be honest with you.”

After McGruder came to the Warriors bench and had a brief conversation with Toscano-Anderson before being led away by team personnel, Klay had the perfect response while he was on the broadcast.
Draymond doubled down in his press conference after the game and asked why McGruder was the ‘tough guy’ for the Pistons and said something on the bench after the game.
After Ellington’s response, Green is likely to have his own setback the next time the Warriors make him available for comment.
