When Michigan’s delayed deliveries arrive, Wayne County will focus on getting it into the arms of 65-year-olds by making it more accessible.

The winter storm has slowed things down for Wayne County, but as doses have arrived, they are committed to taking them to seniors, focusing on eight different communities they are in.

These communities are: Canton, Plymouth, Highland Park, Hamtramck, Inkster, Melvindale, Romulus and Wayne. Disclaimer: You must be a resident of the city where you are calling to make an appointment *

Wayne County residents 65 and older can call one of the eight community or senior centers from Monday. The province’s health department will deliver another 13,000 doses in the coming week, which will be one of their largest shipments to date, although it is not yet as large as the shipments Detroit receives.

Last week, Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan announced extensive vaccinations for vaccines for all Detroiters 60 and older with chronic medical conditions. He is offering $ 2 rides to the TCF Center for those who need it.

This is a frightening reality – Wayne County hopes to provide peace of mind and easier access for those over 65 who take the vaccines to neighborhoods. .

More senior vaccination sites will be announced as more vaccine becomes available. Altogether Wayne County Public Health and local health systems have provided more than 181,596 doses to Wayne County residents since the vaccine became available in December.
