  • A new video suggests that the back of the next ROG phone will display a secondary screen.
  • Like the AniMe Matrix screen on the Zephyrus G14, it looks like you will be able to customize it to display different information.

After Asus started teasing the existence of its next ROG phone last week, the leaks appeared in a steady manner. On Monday, we saw the back of the phone, which appears to be the company’s next handset to be known as the ROG Phone 5, not ROG Phone 4. But the photo eventually gave us more questions than answers.

For starters, what does the red button do on the side? And what about the component that replaced the RGB ROG logo?

A short track uploaded to Weibo and watched by MySmartPrice answer at least that second question. As you can see from the video, the ROG Phone 5 will feature a secondary screen reminiscent of the ROG Zephyrus G14’s AniMe Matrix screen. Unfortunately, the person who uploaded the video did not say what you are doing with the technology. However, if the G14 is an indicator, you can adjust the screen to see things like battery life and sound levels. It can also display notifications.

Today’s leak helps to paint a clearer picture of what we can expect from the ROG Phone 5, but there’s still a lot we do not know about the inside. According to a benchmark uploaded to GeekBench in December, the phone will feature a Snapdragon 888 processor and at least 8GB of RAM. Some reports have said that it will also include a 6,000mAh battery and 65W fast charge. Last year, Asus announced the ROG Phone 3 in July and released it in August. Since the leaks are coming so early this time, it would seem that we can expect the ROG Phone 5 sooner rather than later, which would help answer the questions.
