Watch: ‘The Last Cruise’ trailer for Covid’s deadly outbreak of Diamond Princess looks scary

On January 20, 2020, when Covid-19 was in his infancy, a Diamond Princess cruise ship with 3,711 people (2,666 passengers and 1,045 crew members) departing from Yokohama, Japan. The voyage, which was to be a 16-day tour of Asia, turned into a disaster when the new coronavirus began to spread throughout the ship. The virus infected 712 people and eventually killed 14 passengers (noting that no crew members were killed). People were placed on the ship for weeks and only on March 1 may the last passengers and crew leave the ship.

HBOs The Last Voyage narrates this nightmare through first-person video recordings taken by passengers and crew members. According to Forbes, the film also “” focused on the early response of the United States to Covid-19 ”. The documentary is on March 30 on HBOMax.
