The result comes from a series of straight-line tests conducted by YouTube channel Carwow, which tracks its drag racing on a runway instead of a pre-towed strip. In the standing towing race, the Porsche easily won with a quarter-mile time of 10.1 seconds, beating the Nissan and its time of 10.8 seconds. The R8, which has been struggling with its launch control from the start, came in at just 11 seconds despite its V-10 power.
The race from the start told a slightly different story, with the Porsche being narrower in the first Test and with a comfortable margin in the second Test. In both cases, the Audi came second and easily surpassed the Nissan. The 911 Turbo S and R8 V-10 also beat the GT-R in straight brake tests, with the Audi being so small that it makes itself almost irrelevant.
Again, the lesson here is that the current 911 Turbo S is about as fast as any car on the road without sacrificing anything but the total cost. And while the Turbo S can boast the absurd numbers needed to win drag races, the ‘base’ 911 Turbo is also nothing to look down on.
