Watch Shawn Johnson’s Baby Girl Nail the Balance Beam on Her First Try

The apple does not fall far from the tree – and tumbles, does not turn and tingles.

Shawn Johnson revealed her 17 month old daughter, Drew Hazel East, is taking care of mom to a great extent. The former pro gymnastics shared a video on Friday, March 12, of her little one killing it absolutely on the balance beam.

“Babies first on a balance beam,” Shawn incorrectly pointed out in the video, which shows Drew walking across the balance beam, barely any help from mom, who pulled out from behind her with her hands outstretched, ready to catch her daughter if necessary.

The Olympian-in-the-making deserves her parents’ approval for her debut routine. Her father, Andrew East, was heard behind the camera: “It was pretty good.” Shawn added, “It was good.” Virtually a 10!

In her caption, the Olympic gold medalist joked that Drew “went straight to the foam pit” after jumping off the beam at the play center.

2021 Famous Babies

There is still plenty of time for home gymnastics training to hone her artwork. Drew has been working on her baby gymnastics skills since February 2020, when she was just 3 months old. At the time, Shawn was helping Drew (aka ‘Roo’) make her first turn on the beach in Miami.

In January 2021, Shawn revealed that she was increasing her family to four. “Here we go again @thefamilyeast #babyeast,” she shared on social media. The pregnant athlete kissed a photo of her and Andrew as she rocked her bump.

Later that month, Shawn told E! News she wants to make sure Drew has a sibling in age, but they did not expect to get pregnant so quickly.

“We said we would start trying for about a year and think it would take at least a year,” Shawn recalls. “So it was a shock. We did not think it would happen so quickly, or we would deal with it any time soon.”

Though it was surprising, the couple rejoiced that they would be expecting another child.

“We just think we’re people who like our sleep and like our routine and just like some stability in life,” the 29-year-old said. “And we are like that, why not just knock it out and go through everything now instead of getting comfortable and then going through it again?”

As for little Roo, Shawn recently wrote on Instagram saying, “She’s going to be the best big sister ever!”
