The government of Prime Minister Boris Johnson launched an unprecedented fiscal stimulus last year when the economy was hit by the coronavirus pandemic and suffered its sharpest contraction in more than 300 years.
The UK’s 2021 budget comes as nationwide Covid – 19 restrictions will be phased out over the coming months. Analysts expect possible tax increases and a nod to future tightening to appear in the latest budget announcement Wednesday.
