Nick Jonas is an isolated astronaut who longs to be home with his wife in the new video for ‘Spaceman’. The song is the title track of his fourth studio album, which appears Friday and is available to pre-order. The 11-song series is the sequel to 2016 Last year was complicated.
In the Anthony Mandler-directed image, Jonas wanders through a deserted planet where he lives in a futuristic mirror home. He repeatedly tries to fly back home and fails. However, his resilience and love for his wife at home is unwavering.
His wife, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, appears via a hologram and through screens he watches, fueling the astronaut’s drive to believe they will reunite if he just keeps trying.
The video captures the lonely consequences of quarantine, which Jonas explores in the text of the song. “Mask off if I come home / All safe now that I’m alone,” he sings. ‘Almost like an astronaut / I feel like an astronaut / keep thinking we’re close / there are no drugs overdosing yet / I’m in outer space, man, I feel like an astronaut / and I talk with you / but it felt like it was coming through / coming out on my own. ‘
