Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer are two estranged best friends who become superheroes in Thunder Force. The film, directed by Ben Falcone, will hit Netflix on April 9.
The new trailer for the superhero comedy finds that Lydia (McCarthy) and Emily (Spencer), the best childhood friends who had a falling out, reunite as adults.
Emily has developed a genetic platform that gives ordinary people extraordinary superpowers. When Lydia visits Emily’s lab, she accidentally doses the only formula that offers super power. Meanwhile, Emily’s superpower is invisibility.
The two, who call themselves “Thunder Force”, stumble upon using their newly acquired superpowers to fight the villains living in their hometown of Chicago, including a glowing red-eye Bobby Cannavale. A big scratch claw Jason Bateman also appears in the track.
Pom Klementieff, Melissa Leo, Tyrel Jackson Williams, Sarah Baker and Melissa Ponzio also star in the film.
