INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Several people were shot late Thursday night in a FedEx plant on the southwest side near Indianapolis International Airport, police said.

According to the dispatch, the scene was declared a “mass accident, level 1”. The statement allows more emergencies to go to the scene to provide support.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was sent to report shots and an active shooter Thursday shortly before 11:10 p.m., at 895 Mirabel Road. the I-70 interchange at AmeriPlex Parkway.

Police did not immediately have information on how many people were shot or their circumstances.

No information was immediately available as to whether the shooter was in custody.

At least two ambulances were sent to the scene from the Decatur Township Fire Department.

Indiana State Police say I-70 is closed between I-465 and Ronald Reagan Parkway.
